Who are you? Your Age? From?
HEY! My name is Vasti Miranda, I am 22 years young and live in Philadelphia.
What do you do?
I am the designer and founder of the clothing line Itsav Glamour. The line is geared towards bringing back the look of curvy silhouettes and retro styles. I also do custom made dresses for special events.
What dreams are you working toward?
I am currently working on expanding my line and networking. I have had great opportunities to meet so many people in this industry and everyday look forward to meeting and working with new people. In the long run I would to own a small boutique, but for the time being I am running things through the internet and from my home.
What motivates you to succeed?
Growing up in a home where things were always very creative has helped me stay motivated. My older brother is a music producer, my younger brother is a photographer, my Dad was a fashion designer and my mom does a little of everything. Weekly trips to the craft store since I was young were a part of our weekly schedule.
My family motivates me, especially my siblings when we get together we feed ideas to each other, promote for one another, and include each other in our events. My Dad for sure always pushes me to do things better and has taught me most of what I know.
What has been your biggest obstacle?
My biggest obstacle has been learning to be patient. I get so excited to do something that I just want to go and start on it, but sometimes that isn’t easy. Funding for fabrics and all other supplies needed come out of my pocket so it’s hard trying to stay focused and getting only what I need. When I go to the fabric stores I get inspired and go crazy and want to buy everything! Also I make everything from scratch, down to the patterns, so when something doesn’t turn out right I dont have a manual. I need to trash it and start all over.
What advice would you give other young women?
My advice to other women is to always stay positive, as the saying goes “Where there is a will there is a way” so find it!
