What I Wore: Dressing for Travel

July 6, 2011 | by Fajr | What I Wore | 13 Comments

Dressing for travel is always a peculiar feat. You want to be stylish but comfortable in order to deal with the commute. For me sweats are not an option and you can forget the sneakers… So what’s a girl to do when she wants to look effervescent and travel in style?

1. Leave the Heels at Home…or in your Luggage at Least

2. Like Erykah Badu says “Pack Light!”

3. A Duffle Bag or Heavy Duty Backpack is a Must

4. Dress for Ease and Comfort… A Dress or Jeans and T-shirt are perfection!

5. Wait at the gate for your sky chariot to depart!

Occupy your time by bringing a laptop or camera (to take awkward What I Wore photos while strangers stare at you O_O)

One must suffer awkwardness and onlookers to fly the stylish skies!

This is the perfect travel outfit! It looks both stylish and like it will stand the test of air travel.

If you think shooting pics in an airport gets you odd reactions, imagine singing and recording a song.

My buddy Josh did that. He did actually earn a few applause at the end, but I can only imagine the looks he got while he was singing. But you can tell he didn’t let it phase him.

I would’ve been too self-conscious to take pics or record a vid, so more power to the both of you. :-)

hehehe, you are looking fierce! love the dress, and red looks so good on you! I’m travelling right now and picked a similar outfit to fly to Berlin -where I’m at – no high heels, a comfy dress and a neat bun to keep my crazy hair tidy :)

Omg! Josh is not only brave, he is hot! Tell him I said it :) Yeah taking pictures in public is a little weird, but I just try to act like it’s totally normal!

Oh and thanks for the link to the summer post! So glad you liked it.

This is exactly what I do when I’m travelling, I love your dress. Comfortable shoes and a jersey dress on on my radar.
Great tips. I’m about to go on a sunny holiday and nothing other than light packing is on the mind.

Funny, I always wear heels through an airport…it’s the dress that would seem tricky to me! Also it sometimes gets cold on a plane…
