Recently I had the pleasure to attend a press preview for the Marc Chagall exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Philadelphia Art Museum is one of the largest museums in the US and it happens to be one of my favorite places in the city. With over 225,000 works of art on display you can get lost for hours wandering the exhibition halls.
The Marc Chagall exhibit, titled “Paris Through the Window: Marc Chagall and his Circle” kicked off the upcoming Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts and highlighted Chagall’s work as well as the work of his peers and influencers during his time living in Paris.
The exhibit includes more than 70 paintings, sculptures and works from the early twentieth century. The curator Michael Taylor walked us through the exhibit giving valuable information on Chagall’s inspiration and life.

{Chagall, originally from Russia, worked with and was influenced by the beauty, art and costumes of the Ballet Russe}
{I loved the vibrancy and cartoonish depiction is this piece. It was by far my favorite of the exhibit}
{Three Part Window ~ Robert Delaunay}
Paris through the Window: Marc Chagall and his circle opens today and runs until July 1.

Awesome post im excited to see this exhibit myself thanks…. have you heard about the premiere of roberto cappuci: art in fashion exhibit is scheduled for the 16th? http://philamuseum.org/exhibitions/411.html
It was beautiful Donna! Yes, I’m excited about the Roberto Cappuci!
I’m completely obsessed with museums. When I went to Northeastern University in Boston, I would go to the Museum of Fine Art at least once a week. I don’t go to the NY museums as much as I’d like to, but hopefully when I love in the city, I will.
My favorite piece from the photos you took is the “Three Part Window” by Robert Delaunay. It’s so graphic, but it sort of looks like it’s in colored pencil or something.
