Fajr 101: 19 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

October 3, 2011 | by Fajr | Fajr's World | 19 Comments

As vocal as I am in giving advice, I realize that I’m not always as vocal about myself! I’ve been running Stylish Thought for nearly 5 years and I’ve learned so much about you guys, what you love and what you need help with. I’ve shared tidbits about myself throughout the years, but rarely have I done a full post about moi! Well hold onto your seats ladies, here’s Fajr 101: 19 things you didn’t (and may never wanted to) know about me.

1. I am fourth of 7 children. Needless to say I love my alone time :)

2. I am a Naturalista… though I straighten and wear weaves, I did a big chop in 2008 and haven’t permed my hair since

3. I am a Muslim, hijab or not, Islam is in my heart

4. My Virgo tendencies are always turned on. Lists, check! Hard work, yes! Perfection, I wish!

5. A fall at age 5 resulted in my being deaf in my right ear

6. I’ve only had two serious relationships; one great, one not so great

7. In addition to studying English, I have a minor in Women’s Studies… is it obvious?! :)

8. My older sister taught me to read at 4 and I’ve been writing & reading ever since

9. I HATE TO DRIVE!

10. Stylish Thought has gotten me every job since I graduated college

11. I once ate an entire large cheese pizza by myself; I am neither proud nor ashamed of this fact

12. I own over 80 pairs of shoes; they were all necessary at the time of purchase #winkwink

13. My biggest dream in life is to publish a book that changes someone’s life; how the books I love changed mine

14. I am obsessed with Pugs! I will marry the person who  brings me a pug! I already have my pug’s name picked out: Ebenezer!

15. What I love most about doing SEO is creating really great content! Content Rules!

16. When I am at home working, I talk aloud to myself in foreign accents! LOL!

17. I became a pescetarian in February 2011. My goal is to become full vegetarian but baby steps

18. I am such a HAM! I love to laugh! And make people laugh!

19. I am often mis-referred to as Mr. Muhammad and you know what… it’s all good!

I hope you found me mildly intriguing!

What are some things people may not  know about you? I spilled the beans now it’s your turn :)

Oh how gorgeous are you??? I’ve been a vegetarian for 2 years now, been on and off of it since I was 16, but now, I can’t even stand the smell of meat! It also taps into my creative side coming up with crazy dishes that taste well. Sounds nerdy but I sincerely love being a non- preaching vegetarian.

I’m obsessed with bugs, insects, etc..I have a ladybug bell on my bike as ladybugs have been following me since my early 20s, and I don’t have a single clue as to why!

Ladybugs are a sign of luck, I’ve read!

I love that you say “non-preaching vegetarian”. It’s a way of life that works for us, not for everyone. You’ll have to share some recipes.

Good to know, I also read that ladybugs are reminders to live your life to the fullest because they don’t have a long life span, so, no complaints here!

And yeah, I’m not into the whole preaching stuff on vegetarianism. My mom used to be a butcher, so i get the whole meat situation. And I purchase leather products so, I’m still participating in the leather industry. It just works for me, my mind, body and soul are happier with this change. I’ll share recipes and blogs that have some good ideas!

I’ve had a similar post started in the draft position for a week now! I loved gettIng to know so many new things about you. I was an English major too with a minor in French, but sadly my French has become rather horrible over the last 4 years. I have a Rosetta Stone on my Christmas list!

I studied French too, but don’t know a lick! I’ll have to get Rosetta as well.

I love this post!!! The biggest surprise.. I didn’t realize you were natural. We met several times last month and I would never guess. I did a big chop last February and stayed natural for…drum roll please, 6 months. Maybe you should consider writing a book about women learning to accept their natural self. (-:

Hey Natasha! I do flat iron, which has taken a toll on my hair but you can achieve a straight look while being natural. A book is a cool idea :)

Great post! I think the SEO thing must be related to being a Virgo. I just started researching it with the help of a journalist friend turned pro blogger, and I am OBSESSED. I certainly have a lot to learn about incorporating it into my site in a seamless way — but I am loving this learning process!
