Women Who Werk: Diana Taylor

November 2, 2011 | by Fajr | Empowerment | 10 Comments

Who are you? Your Age? From?

My name is Diana R. Taylor , I’m 27, and I’m from Baltimore but currently live in Delaware

What do you do?

Today, Lillian Taylor Cosmetics (my make-up line that launched about 2 yrs ago.) and my family are my life. I decided to step out on faith and start my own cosmetics line and I’ve been running ever since. So a couple times a day I change my hat from wife, to mother, to business owner, to make-up artist, and I also teach make-up at the Paul Mitchell Academy. As busy as I am at times, I love what I do.

What dreams are you working toward?

Last month I launched “How Do You LILY” (www.howdoyoulily.com). LILY stands for L.avish, I.conic, L.imitless, Y.ou and is a term used to describe the kind of women who wears Lillian Taylor Cosmetics. It’s all about the individualistas in the world and being LILY is embracing your creativity and realizing that its OK to be your own style icon. My dream is to grow my brand socially, build a strong Internet presence, and make a connection with my customers. I want to hear the world asking How Do You LILY?

What motivates you to succeed?

My family. I want my son to see that hard work pays off, my husband to know that the sacrifices will equal success and my mom to know that everything she taught me actually stuck.

What has been your biggest obstacle?

Trying to translate all my thoughts and ideas into reality. It’s funny how we are forever evolving but a few months ago I realized that I can have all the best ideas in the world, but if I can’t put a plan into action to execute them than it’s almost like I never had an idea to begin with. SO NEEDLESS TO SAY TIME MANAGEMENT.

What advice would you give other women?

In a industry so full of talented people, find you niche and be consistent. Also understand that you can have it all. Family, kids, friends and pursue your dreams. It’s all about balance.

Work harder, play harder, than work hard again!

I never knew I got a few replies and never responded. I’m sorry, but the saying goes better late than never… lol. I am so happy that my thoughts could be of inspiration. We can all use a pick me up from time to time.

Love Diana’s sense. Of style. it is bold and original. She is a strong woman and I admire her. I especially like her advise that there is no point in having brilliant ideas if you don’t execute them. She inspired me.
