While most days are a parade of positivity, morning sex coffee runs and sunshine, sometimes the dark side of the moon likes to rear its ugly head and poo poos all over your afternoon. The expression FML (Fuck My Life, for you acronoym-phobes) exists for a reason. Bank account overdraft: FML! 2 hour traffic jam: FML! Baby mama drama: FYL! (sorry none of that over here). It ain’t all roses and we have to learn to navigate through the thorns to get to the good times. When this ish hits the fan and your day just doesn’t seem to be getting any better, here are few tips to get it back on track or at the very least lift your spirits.
Take a Deep Breath
There’s a reason deep breathing is in every relaxation/stress article; cause it works. Something about activating the diaphragm and releasing stress killing endorphins into your system. And since everyone is capable of doing it, it’s an easy way to calm yourself down when your having a full on stress attack, plus it’s better than having people throw buckets of cold water on you.
Have a Good Cry/Scream/Tantrum
So I know I just said to calm down and breath, but sometimes that shit doesn’t work and what you really need to do is get your frustration out. And since it’s illegal to damage public property, why not go into a (bathroom stall/your car/broom closet) somewhere private and let it rip. Cry, yell, throw your arms about in a dramatic fashion. The only rule is that once you’ve done this let whatever is bothering you go. Don’t keep revisiting these emotions, nothing good will come of it.
Listen to Justin Bieber
How can anything be wrong when Justin Bieber is playing? This man-child’s saccharine lyrics (“I’ll buy you anything, I’ll buy you any ring”) will have you smiling, dancing in your seat and forgetting whatever was bothering you in the first place. And if you’re one of those douchey people who doesn’t like the awesomeness that is the Bieb then check out Lesbians Who Look like Justin Bieber, it’s sure to brighten your day.
Delve Deeper
Events that trigger stress or the “bad days” always hint to a larger issue. If being stuck in traffic is a buzzkill, then leave for work earlier or limit your driving. If money puts you in a funk, learn how to manage it better. Some events are beyond our control, but if we can address the underlying issue then maybe they won’t affect us as much.
Don’t Sweat It
A funk is just that: a FUNK, not the end of the world. If you’re not feeling 100% it could just mean that you didn’t get enough sleep. Don’t fret my pet! Let whatever was upsetting you float to the back of your mind and get on with your day. The little irks we let get to us won’t matter to in 5 years so why give it any more than 5 seconds attention? It’s not that deep!

That picture…it’s so cute and heartbreaking.
Good advice. I need to put them into practice.
That picture is so sad, like damn what’s she going do now
That picture is not sad…it is telling the lil girl to haul azz on the beach take a dip with her dog…and run out before someone catches her. lol
LOL
