Who Wears the Pants? A Tale of Boyfriend Jeans

I have a confession to make: I’m not a jeans girls! Ahhhhhhhhh, the horror. I literally own one pair of jeans and they’re of the wide-leg variety which I find fit my body very well. I used to own skinnies, but they got thrown out as soon as my “in love” weight came. The idea of boyfriend jeans conjures up bad images of Cross Colors and Mark Wahlberg, funky bunch era baggy jeans. Needless to say, the obsession with boyfriend jeans has been lost on me.
Well it would have been, had I not been sleeping over with the boy this week and realized that I didn’t want to wear anything I packed (don’t you hate that ladies). Desperate, I took a peek in his closet to see at least 20 pairs of jeans hanging. The boy is obsessed with denim! My wheels cranked, “Maybe, just maybe a pair would fit me.”
A bit distressed and slim one appeared as if they would fit, so I put them on, cuffed the legs and rushed to the mirror to see if I was the kind of girl that could pull off the effortless cool of boyfriend jeans. I instantly felt relaxed, laid back. I stuffed my hands in the pockets, relishing in this new found freedom. They fell away from my legs, hung low on the waist and actually didn’t look half bad.
Proud of my new style discovery, I rushed to show the boy who I was certain would think I was the smartest, most ingenious, beautiful girl in the world. In reality it went like this.
Me: “Look, I’m wearing your jeans. Cool right?”
Boy: looking up from video game “Ugggh, ok.”
Me: “Yeah, can you believe I can fit them?” In a snarky tone, “you’re pretty skinny.”
Boy: “Yeah, either that or you’re pretty big. Those are mens’ jeans you know.” Returning to his game with a smirk plastered on his face.
Me: “Uggggh, ok.”
He may have won this battle, but a little sarcasm isn’t going scare me. I’ve had my first foray into boyfriend denim and I like it. They were comfortable and with a pair of heels and sheer tank, feminizing them won’t be an issue. As for the big issue, we’ll see how he feels when I replace his weight gainer with Slim Fast.

Thought of wearing your boyfriend’s jeans it a great idea and yes, you can jazz them up to look really sexy. The trick however is to be sure that your boyfriend is about the same size or a little bit smaller or bigger than you. In my case, wearing my boyfriend’s jeans wouldn’t work, as we are no where near the same size, he is 6ft and about 230lbs — there is no way that I could possibly pull off looking sexy in a pair of his jeans.

oh man, i havent’ mastered the boyfriend jeans yet… but yeah, jeans are tough for a dress girl! i know!
