Stylish Thought Ten: Spring Wardrobe Essentials

March 13, 2012 | by Fajr Muhammad | Fashion, Personal Style | 6 Comments

The weather is finally breaking and low 40s are giving way to 60 degree days. The sun is gloriously spreading the Vitamin D love. What more can a girl ask for? A suitable and spring-worthy wardrobe of course!

Spring is a tricky season, with its light breezes and rainy days. Creating a spring wardrobe is about ease, light fabrics and proper outerwear. Here are my ten spring wardrobe essentials for an easy-going and glorious spring.

1. A Snappy Trench Coat

This pink plaid trench from Modcloth screams spring! Why wear a typical tan trench when you can rock a plaid one?

2. Colorful Oxfords

Oxfords, brogues, whatever you call them, they are a classic shoe. These Rachel Antonoff for Bass Oxfords  put a crayola spin on the traditional and the clear inserts are sure to show some toe cleavage.

3. Style-Proof Umbrella

Heart shaped umbrella! This is a must-have!

4. A Charming Cardigan

On warm days a cute cardigan can double as a great piece of outerwear. The ruffles and black & white piping on this Miss Selfridge cardigan makes it cuter than any coat I own.

5. Rain Slicker

A rainy day in Spring? Best be prepared with this Topshop Rain Slicker. Wear it with a pair  of skinnies and cute rain boots (see #6) and show the rain who’s the style boss!

 6. A Flouncy Skirt

A great A-line skirt is my go to bottom in nice weather. This floral skirt from ASOS would look amazing with a white tank and pair of espadrilles.

7. Galoshes

Not really a fan of the tall rain Wellingtons? Me either. These Loeffler Randall LR Rain Boots  are the perfect marriage of  style and function. High step through puddles in these rain booties.

8. A Straw Fedora

Hats are a staple in any weather. When spring rolls around I swap out my wool hats for lightweight straw fedoras like this one.

9. Pop Art Handbag

Ditch that black multipurpose tote bag and break out with some color! I love the colorblocking of this satchel from Aldo.

10. Lightweight Scarves

This scarf says Call of the Wild to me. Gauzy, red and full of zebras, this scarf will keep you cozy in the spring air and is sure to be a conversation starter!

Cute flats, preferably not in black! Great post. That trenchcoat is absolutely adorable.

I really want the Aldo Bunger bag, but it’s not in stock. Any idea where I can buy it?
