The Hair Idol Experience

As I much as I love and adore fashion, I am equally obsessed with hair and hairstyles. I recounted my hair-evolution and it seems a hairstyle can’t tie me down. I’ve recently (in the past year) been addicted to hair weaves, both as protective styling and convenience. So in this dire “R” world, the do-it-yourselfer in me, decided to chuck the salon and stylist and attempt to learn how to apply extensions.

Meet Sidnee! Everyone say hello! The newest addition to the Stylish Thought clan. Me and my gurl (mannequin head) are going to learn the techniques and try some new hairstyles on for size. This should be interesting.

This past weekend I did my first sew-in and after much trial & error, and stabbing myself with the needle (thank goodness for your plastic scalp Sidnee) I think I’m getting the hang of it. Eventually I’d love to do a HUGE CURLY FRO… a la these… (Oh luscious curls to drool over)  While my natural hair can achieve this it lacks the length, which explains my fondness for extensions.

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH MMMMMMYYYYYY Goodness! You have finally spoken to my heart, soul, adn scalp! I was just online last night planning some summer hair. I agree with the thought that although the natural hair can achieve much praise in it’s own glory, sometimes my HAIRSTYLE ADHD kicks in and I need a change– cuts, tindrils, and color are much more satisfying when you know that your real hair is safe. It’s like cheating on Aidan for Mr. Big! I am looking into IndianHair.com, hisandher.com, and a few other sites that offer great hair for great (colossal) prices.

What would you suggest for great luminous, lucsious curls that are full, able to get wet and retain shape, and bold??? Answer that and I’d wear a STYLISH THOUGHT original any day!

@Dana: LOL.. Yes I too have hair ADHD… IndianHair.com and Hisandher are pretty expensive. If you only plan one install Wet and Wavy is fine. If you want to reuse then spring for the good stuff.

You know I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee Big hair. And im always looking for new styles. I love solange’s hair and also this big hair that angela simmons had for a photo shoot. Turns out their secret is they used straight hair and it was curled for them vs. using already curled or waved hair. Anyway I love the blog.

God, I love the big fros. If I could get my hair to that, I’d be thrilled. Please keep us posted on how the DIY-weaving works out- you are braver than me!
