Labor Day may be the technical end to summer, but New York Fashion Week signals a new season sweeping through fashion and a oncoming change in the climate of our wardrobes. I must admit that writing about fashion week is a bittersweet thing for me. I love the experience of viewing new collections, seeing designers’ perspectives change; however I would love to be there in the midst of the action. Alas, I still anticipate seeing the new wave sweep in and take over fashion’s (and my own) mind.
There are a few designers I’m excited to see, just based on past collections. And I can’t wait to see and read all the coverage, even if I’m not physically there. *tear tear*
Charlotte Ronson: The family and Lindsay Lohan hype aside, C.Ronson makes darling clothing for darling girls. It’s all incredibly feminine without being too “girly”, yet she keeps a modern edge to her collections. In my mind she’s someone whose closet I’d love to swap with… a style doppleganger so to speak.
Chris Benz: He’s gorgeous and the epitome of casual cool. Not to mention his bold use of color, even in fall collections. Benz’s clothes seems like you’ve been trolling through a kooky aunts closet and that’s what I love most about him.
Catherine Holstein: The girl that everyone is watching, with good reason.
Erin Fetherston: The angelic fashion maven. Fetherston makes sweet, beautiful, sacchrine heavy clothes that scream for me to play dress up and save every image to my desktop. And her love of tights makes her a girl after my own heart.
Then there are the regular must-watch shows
Alexander Wang
Yigal Azrouel
Milly by Michelle Smith
Marc Jacobs (he’s still in New York, after last season?)
Karen Walker
