What I Wore: Laugh @ Yourself

Where’s Ms. Thought? Yes I know the obvious “Where’s Waldo” reference is in order and guess what I love it. I’ve been in a bit of a comical mood lately with my sartorial choices and I think it can’t get any more comical then stripes, suspenders and knee-highs. Life’s too short to dress or take yourself too seriously.

Details:
Striped Shirt: H&M
Skirt & Suspenders: Modcloth
Stockings: Forever21
Knee-Highs: LP Socks
Boots: Aersoles

Now stare at my bow (what’d you think I was going write) and get lost in the stripey-ness of it all.

Sole Search: Tie Me Up

9 Mar

lace-up
I’m not a sneaker gurl (Converse aren’t sneakers right?) but I do have a penchant for laces; since my childhood days of changing laces to match my outfit. Lame I know, but laces’ current reintroductions are not. These aren’t those just-for-show laces, where there is a zipper in the back. Functional laces on peep-toe sandals, booties and wedges add another interesting dimension to these already hot heels.

Are you feeling laced up?

Elsa, Marilyn, Shoulders, I Die

5 Mar

Tiring of all the FW coverage and I have yet to fully digest any of London or Milan and Paris is already upon us. Needless to say, I’ll be playing catch up and posting a round up of all my favorites sometime in the next week. However, amidst my swirling confusion, one show stopped me in my high heeled tracks.

Not the biggest Dolce & Gabbana connoisseur (always hearing Madea’s voice “Dolsay and Gab-anna” instead) I sometimes feel their aesthetic is gaudy and overly sexual. While I have no qualms with gaudiness, hyper sexuality is not my strong suit and the two together, I want no parts. The Fall 2009 ready to wear collection, however played upon quirkiness, simple glamor in a shocking but restrained color palette (Elsa Schiaparelli’s shocking pink) and retro shapes. Can you see my salivation? There was still suggestive sexuality and their hint of Italian flair.

Themes I’ll be attempting/ exploring in my own wardrobe.

The Weather Outside is Frightful…

2 Mar

But this editorial is so delightful. We’ve gotten a couple of inches of snow and a serious wind chill. I made it into work today, but all I can think about is playing in the white dust in a voluminous ball gown like some sort of Snow Goddess while Sade plays in the background. This editorial from Vogue UK (Foto_Decadent) is precisely how I’d like to look. BTW, am I the only one that wants a giant swan now?

Aren’t these just magical? I love how fashion layouts can transport you a more beautiful place than the one you’re already in.
