Stylish Thoughts on… Diva

31 Dec

diva1

Has the world gone edgy? Gareth Pugh’s S/S 09 collection has surfaced in the most commercial manner, a Beyonce video, hell hath frozen over. Please don’t take this as hate or shade, I adore Be and Gareth, well he’s amazing, but the two seem as well suited as caviar and spam. This one has me scratching my coiffed head.

It’s perfectly acceptable to transform your image, by all means take the Madonna Imaging 101 course and work your version of Rihanna style, but please pull it off with some semblance of authenticity. The “Diva” video was styled impeccably and is total eye candy, but it’s giving me a toothache. The glove was bad enough Beyonce (or Sasha Fierce, I’m confused), but the Brian Litchenberg Franc Fernandez headpieces have me gagging. Maybe I’m just jealous or maybe I’m over thinking this and should just sit back and watch Diva on my Video Phone while being the female version of a woman who can’t comprend this.

Gareth Pugh + Brian Litchenberg + Beyonce = Diva or Don’t?

I feel like a lumberjack today. I’m clearly not fit to climb trees in this ensemble, but I feel pretty woodsy, nonetheless.

New & Improved

Happy after Christmas and looking forward to a Happy New Year! One of my many 2009 goals is to work on building Stylish Thought by blogging more, writing more useful content and just being generally awesome in the blogshere. My first step in achieving Stylish Thought world domination is to bring you a new, cooler, easier to navigate layout. The Dark Ages are over, gone is the black layout. 2009 is ushering in a cleaner, white layout, a new header (I’m in love with the shoe and frame) full posts on the homepage and a navigation bar with more features on my different pursuits. My emerging, new perspective on life, dreams, goals, fashion and style will be reflected here. I’ve always wanted Stylish Thought to be a platform for open discussion on all things related with style and also my own way to explore those things in my life.

I’m also going to add more in the way of features including What I Wore, Ask Stylish Thought and Stylish Thoughts on… Hope you enjoy the new direction I’m talking with my blog and continue to support it. Just for shits & giggles, please take my mini-poll and tell me what you really think.

What do you think of the new layout?

Happy Holidays from Stylish Thought

23 Dec

vogue-cover

While I don’t celebrate any religious holiday during this time, (being Muslim) I think it’s a great time to see family, eat well and be happy. It’s also a time to examine the things that are going on in your life, work on your relationships and friendships and work toward your goals. I’ll be taking a break for the rest of the week, to do precisely all the things above.

Also in the works in a redesigned Stylish Thought and much more and better content! Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday season! Be Safe and Merry!

New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Eve; out with the old, in with the new. While the cynic side of me, wonders what’s the point of putting my mind through all the pomp of making a resolution, the hopeful side thinks that resolving to keep my resolutions and making them as realistic as possible is a strong first step. My very inquisitive boyfriend said he doesn’t make resolutions because he rarely keeps them. Is it the fault of the resolution or the person who can’t seem to keep them? Ummm…

Cheesy as they may be, resolutions are there for working towards things and putting our goals into the air. I’ve made a few resolutions that pertain to the blog and my short-term goals.

1. Continue to blog here at Stylish Thought, about any and everything that piques my interest and to NOT blog about things that I feel lackluster about or only because everyone else is blogging about it. – A site Redesign is on the way; single page format, easier to read posts and better content.

2. To truly put the time and energy into my freelance writing career.

3. To TRAVEL, TRAVEL, TRAVEL

4. Continue to work on ME, fashion and all things related, to ME. I’m a work in progress.

What your New Year’s Resolutions?
